Dolphin hunting is a common practice in Taiji, Japan. The authorities have legalized it; however, they oppose thethere are many activities of activists who oppose the practice. The increased dolphin hunting could have resulted into the extinction of the species. The Taiji resident’s practice often hunt on dolphins hunting and they attribute itas it is part of their to culture. The cCove documentary focuses on the inhumane killings of dolphins.

The Cove film The Cove was produced in 2009. The film was produced by a prominent activist who was influential in campaigning against the illegal hunting of dolphins in Japan.
