Title: The influence of social media websites in the music festival industry
The aim of this dissertation is to provide an evaluation of the growth and influence of social media, as a promotional tool, on music festival attendees in the United Kingdom. Exploring in-depth the state of development of digital media providing new opportunity’s and challenges for marketers in the global market. This massive growth of using social media sites as a main marketing tool has lead to businesses/events making these methods a top agenda.
Long a backbone of European tourism income, Music festivals are now a worldwide market to exploit with fans embracing the unique experience and opportunity in discovering new bands. Appealing to potential consumers around the world has changed in the last decade, engaging with brands and events has lost its traditional methods has now turned into an open-ended association with the event sharing your attendance and experiences on social media sites. The dissertation will go in-depth of the transformation of social media and new consumer marketing strategies, adding to the framework of research on festival events by applying these new methods to current festivals.
To elaborate the point of current music festivals profiles being practical in their use of social media engaging with the customer throughout their consumer journey from the point of ticket purchase to the day of travel, this dissertation will further explore the relationship between (Choice of) (Glastonbury) music festival and social media. How has (Chosen festival) changed since its beginnings? How has the ever increasing social media presence affected the festival? Discussing the methods the festival has with social media sites in the form of a dissertation and aims to explore the changes that have occurred since the festivals beginnings.
