Corrective measures: the torte that best describes the situation of Alumina is an Unintentional Torte. Unintentional torte is an action taken place that did not have the intent to cause harm but did. This particular torte is called negligence. When speaking of corrective measure this is referring to how can the organization go and fix the problem at hand which is the violation of the EPA and the clean water act passed in 1972 by congress. The clean water act is a regulation created by the state but enforced by federal government through the EPA to ensure that polluter are discharging anything into the water systems unless given a permit to do so. The EPA allows self policing, which is monitoring and correcting done by the organization instead of a regulatory agency. Depending on how the organization finds the problem and how soon they take care of the problem determines the percentages of the fee that can be waived for self policing. Self policing would be the best way to ensure corrective measures are taken. If done right it keeps the organization a brisk with current regulations, it keeps legal cost down, and maintains a competitive edge through good reputation.

In the invent that the PAH levels exceed the allowed amount. An emergency should be in place to maintain EPA standards. Each week for about six months there should be PAH testing to verify the level of pollutants in the water. After each month the data should be analyzed to identify when the levels are the highest and how the organization can manage the secretion levels. During peak levels an emergency group should be formulated from experienced and knowledgeable personnel to verify the pollutant. They are to immediately rid the waters of the solution to eliminate any fines and bad publicity. Once this is done detailed and correct information should be recorded for auditing purposes.
