Origin

Buddhism began as an offspring to Hinduism in the country of India. Buddhism originated in Northern India in the 5th century B.C.E. The tradition traces its origin to Siddhartha Gautama, who is typically referred to as the Buddha, the awakened one. After Buddha achieved enlightenment, he preached whatever he learned from his experiences and his teachings came to be known as Buddhism and were well received by the people.

Hinduism is a major world religion originating on the Indian subcontinent and comprising several and varied systems of philosophy, belief, and ritual. Hinduism is unique among the world religions in that it has no founder or date of origin. While most major religions derive from new idea taught by charismatic leader, Hinduism is simply the religion of the people of India, which has gradually developed over four thousand years. The origins and authors of its sacred texts are largely unknown. Although today’s Hinduism differs significantly from earlier forms of Indian religion, Hinduism’s roots date back as far as 2000 BC, making it one of the oldest surviving religions.

Spiritual beliefs

Buddhism, like most of the great religions of the world is divided into a number of different traditions. However, most traditions share a common set of spiritual beliefs. One Spiritual belief of Buddhism is often referred to as reincarnation, the concept that people are reborn after dying. Most individuals go through many cycles of birth, living, death and rebirth. After many cycles, if a person releases their attachment to desire and the self, they can attain Nirvana. This is a state of liberation and freedom from suffering. In Buddhism, each phenomenon or event act as a cause that sets another into motion. The central cause in this process of cause and effect is karma, our actions of body, speech, and mind.
