1)Electronic commerce, commonly known as e-commerce consists of the buying and selling of products or services over electronic systems such as the Internet and other computer networks.

2) E-commerce is a type of business model that enables a firm or individual to conduct business over an electronic network, typically the Internet.

3) E commerce has been defined as,

“…in a loose sense e-commerce means doing business over the internet, selling goods and services which are delivered offline as well as products which can be digitized and delivered online, such as computer software.”

5) Reducing paper work thus increasing automation

Types of e-commerce

(Flipkart)Business to consumer (B2C): The first type of e-commerce is business to consumer or B2C. This is a sale of goods to the general public. This type of transaction makes it very close to the consumer. A good example of a B2C website is www.amazon.com. Amazon sells books and various other items. Many students turn to Amazon when they cannot find a textbook for a class at the local bookstores. Amazon provides a convenience for these students; e-commerce succeeds when it makes things convenient for the consumer

Business-to-Business(B2B): (automating transactions between trading partners)

Business-to-Business e-commerce has been around for some time. Over 90% of all e-commerce transactions on the Internet are B2B. B2B enables automating transactions between trading partners for business efficiency. B2B is also known to be Electronic Data Interchange (EDI).

Consumer-to-Business(C2B):- consumer sell their products or offer services to companies
