“If it is more beneficial for an individual to have a job they enjoy rather than just work for money, even if the pay is good”.

It is more beneficial for an individual to have a job they enjoy rather than just work for money because of the motivation that keeps the employee working in this environment. Motivation is one of the most important factors at the work place. It has crucial influence over the work of the employees in an organization because the employees are there knowing that they have to work really hard in order to get any rewards. All of them have different goals but the motivation that keeps them wanting to achieve their goal come from the rewards that they expect to get if they finish the work properly.

One of the main reasons for deteriorating the quality of work is that the money become not enough motive for employees to continue working for the same environment. According to BBC (2012) and Maslow’s theory, the first need of the employees is to get a salary that is high enough for them to survive and pay all of the necessary life costs. On second place comes the safety needs such as the job security and the last level is his\her social, self-esteem and self-fulfilment needs. A lot of companies are using his theory in order to keep their staff motivated and keep the quality of work on as much high standard as possible.

Another theory focused on the mental and behavioural processes is the Herzberg’s theory. His theory is concentrated on two different types of needs – the hygiene and the motivators needs. According to Gordon (1991), Herzberg argues that there are two outcome dimensions – no satisfaction-satisfaction and dissatisfaction-no dissatisfaction. The first dimension is concentrated on the motivators needs such as achievement, responsibility and meaningful job while the second dimension is concentrated on the hygiene such as the payment, the status and the security.
