Rich VS Poor

The person you are in the eyes of others defines whether you are rich or poor. You can be the poorest of the poor but still have your principles, manners and pride and be more of a human being than those with all the money in the world. So people in the world are divided into two classes: high and low class. The first thing that comes to mind when talking about higher and lower class is the financial situation of both. But it is not all about that. The gap between these two classes is getting wider with time, not only in terms of financial situations but also in terms of education, health care and the outlook for life that they both have.

The financial differences between rich and poor are obvious. For example, rich people have higher salaries than poor people, implying they have a higher daily income. That leads to a higher annual income. According to newly released Census figures "the top-earning 20% of Americans, those making more than $100,000 each year, received 49.4% of all income generated in the U.S., compared with the 3.4% earned by those below the poverty line" (usatoday ,2009). So, income inequality is rising. And many factors could cause this such as age and qualifications. It is known that the older you get the more qualified you become, which leads you to better a job with a higher salary. Therefore, young unqualified people are more likely to be poorer. According to a newly released Cunsus figures, "lower skilled adults ages 18 to 34 had the highest jumps in poverty last year as employers kept or hired older workers for the dwindling jobs available " (smeeding, 2009). So, financial situation is the most obvious element when comparing rich to poor.
