Answer the following questions, using information from this week’s readings. Respond to each question in 100 to 200 words.

1. Briefly explain the seven elements of the speech communication process. How do these elements determine a speech’s success or failure?

As listed and explained in (Lucas S.E. 2009) the seven elements of speech communication are, the speaker the speech begins here with the speaker. Normally in public speaking the speaker will present the entire speech without interruption. The speaker need to knowledgeable on the topic, have creditability this will help with the success of the speech. Delivering the speech with enthusiasm will help the audience should be excite as the speaker. Next is the message, (what the speaker says.) The goal of the public speaking is to get the out effectively. The message should be researched for supporting facts as well as flow smoothly. Tones gestures as well as facial expression will help maintain attention to the message. After this is the channel, the channel refers to how the message is communicated for example, in person, on TV, radio, or computer screen. The listener is the person all this is for, the person who receives the message. The listener will filter the entire speech through their frame of reference. The frame of reference refers to the listeners knowledge experience attitude, values etc. Feedback is the usually sent in the form of nonverbal communication. Let’s the speaker know is the message is being received. Interference is anything that impedes the communication of the message such as distractions and things of that nature. Situation is the time and place the speech occurs.
