Introduction:

The main domain of this case study is payroll analysis with the context of motivation of the Texas Roadhouse. It is generally believe that the organization focuses monetary incentive as a tool of motivation. Texas Roadhouse is a restaurant chain that specializes in steaks and seafood. It promotes a western theme. In 1993, its first restaurant was opened in Indiana but now it operates in 46 states with 320 plus restaurants. It’s headquartered in Kentucky. (Ulrich & Dave)

1. Discuss the Relationship of Employees & Incentive:

Employees have a pay relationship with organization. They provide the competencies and skills to the organization to facilitate valued customers. Basically effective pay structure supports the organizational objectives through fair workflow and employee’s behavior. Job satisfaction is most important for the customer care. But it is very difficult to say that only monetary incentive will motive the employees. In my opinion, self-respect, job appraisal and promotion structure are the key elements which are contributing to the motivation. Work recognition and continuous growth of grades will increase the respect in the eyes of organization. I partially disagree that the only financial reward can motivate the employees. Loyalty cannot be purchased by money. (Steven M & Bragg)

Actually, Motivation is a force in which humans complete their goals. Intrinsic and extrinsic are the two main motivational aspects. Monetary reward is considered the extrinsic type of motivation. But it has limitations as well. Many theories have been developed on motivation. Majority among the intellectuals agreed that the motivation is a process in which the management should try to maximize the pleasures and minimize the pain (psychological and physical).
