How many of us in the room today have ever made stupid decisions when they were younger, done things that they regret? I think it’s safe to say that most people in the room here today agree that our decision making abilities weren’t the greatest when we were younger. By throwing alcohol into the equation, it would only make decision-making and rational thinking harder for teenagers .My name is Nathanael Cheung and I am here to tell you why the Canadian age limit for alcohol should not be lowered, but instead, should be raised to 21. I think this is an issue that pertains to everyone in this room, since most of us are of age to drink or almost of age, and some of us may consume alcohol. I will begin by talking about how raising the age limit will reduce alcohol related car accidents, will reduce the risk of brain damage, then how it will help students in university.

Firstly, a reason why a higher alcohol age restriction would cause less car accidents is because most of us receive our G2 driving permits around the age 17 or 18. By the time we are legal to drink, we have about one to two years of driving...
