Kuder Assessment and Major Research Reflection
When I graduate college, I intend to have a degree in secondary education as a math teacher. I have a huge desire to want to teach high school kids about math. I want to specialize in trigonometry and precalculus. Since this is what I want to do, it requires a lot of math classes, the basic general studies, humanities, a couple electives and an internship as a teacher. I don’t need a whole bunch of requirements like the engineering program wants you to have, but I still need to pass everything else with a GPA of 2.0 or higher. I can potentially work at a high school, community college, private home teacher, or even a university teacher, (if I do grad school). Overall, this is the major I want to pursue. In the Kuder Assessment, it told me that my potential major would be a social worker. I was actually shocked because I knew that I always wanted to do something that related to that field (i.e. counselor, psychiatrist, mentor). I never really settled on anything, so I decided on a teaching job because I could help students in a way that they would both learn and understand that I’m there to help. I believe that if for some odd reason I don’t want to be a teacher anymore, I might just end up becoming a counselor or mentor. I have a big dream to help kids and their pathway to success. The results from the survey fit me very well. Everything I ever thought of as a potential job showed up. Next to being a social worker came up secondary education again, but as an economics teacher.
