Explore recruitment, selection and retention procedures by identifying a job position in a company.
The job position I have identified is that of a Quality and Performance Officer in a housing organisation.
You need to:
• Identify the characteristics of the person(s) required for this particular position
The characteristics of the potential post holder will be as follow:
The person must be experience in quality and performance with a track record in customer care, experienced in implementing and managing change and innovation, systems and processes; possess administrative, systems maintenance and report writing experience; have knowledge and understanding of working in a diverse environment, ICT and a range of quality assessment frameworks. The individual must have the ability to plan, organise and prioritise workload, maintain accurate and timely records, influencing and negotiation skills and be educated to degree level or equivalent.
• Suggest suitable methods for selection
Selection methods are important in any organisation as they measure an applicant’s suitability and qualifications for a job and help in predicting the job performance of each applicant. The selection procedure aids in matching the organisation’s requirements to that of the applicant through information exchange.
For the above post, CV’s and application forms can be used initially to collect basic factual information about the applicant such as name, address, education, work history, training, skills, accomplishments, etc. This information can then be used to screen out applicants who do not meet the job’s minimum qualifications in terms of education, skills, experience, etc. I would however suggest using application forms only for this role as an application form that has been carefully structured can very easily cut out...
