The Effects of Health Insurance on the Delivery of Healthcare in the United States
The healthcare delivery system or the way health care is delivered in America can take a months and months of brainstorming to figure out. The truth is the healthcare delivery system in the United States (US) is fragmented and does not function with the cohesion, as is characterized by other health care delivery systems around the world. To effectively understand US system of health care delivery an individual would have to take a look at historical events as it relates to the evolution of the delivery of healthcare here in the United States of America. A number of significant events and or changes occurred; among these is the birth of Health Insurance. It should be noted, however, that culture, beliefs and values played a very important role in pre-industrial America and still shapes the way things stands today to some extent.
In pre-industrial America self-reliance was held in high esteem for the citizens of very independent group of people who were determined to make it on his or her own without and help aid, but with heavy reliance on free trade and capitalism. These people were very resistant to Europe’s way of doing things. However, as a result of the recession people were forced to accept the government funded insurance, in an effort to stop inflation. This was rejected because people did not want to be on the public dome but a lot of this has changed as a result of the current recession.
