Accountability

Proper accountability of sensitive items is important. The most important reason for this is because enemy troops can get a hold of important sensitive items. Most important sensitive items that enemies should not get their hands on are weapons and comsec items that could be used as the enemies offensive and defensive purposes against our troops. It also causes the person that lost the item to pay for it which can be extremely costly. If an item is lost that is sensitive it creates a big problem with the unit and many consequences. They will go on lock down until it is found which can mean many hours and the group or unit will search until it is found which can also take many hours until the item is found. For example when our 1st platoon lost a rifle like the irresponsible platoon they are we had to search up to and around 1000 meter area for a very extended amount of time looking for it until it was found. We did hands across America to find it which included lining up in a big line to do a police call and walking around the whole area we were at until somebody found it. If they would have had accountability of all of their sensitive items then we would have not have had to do such a thing. As long as you have accountability of all of your sensitive items you won’t have to do a police call until early in the morning. There is no need to do police calls or hands across America to find something if you know where everything is. Just think about it, how you would feel if you lost your car keys and couldn’t drive until you found them and you didn’t have a spare key. It can take hours and a lot of frustration and what if it took you a week to find your car keys and you had to ask people and try to find somebody to give you a ride everyday and hope that you can find a ride.
