Descriptive Statistics: Pace - K, Pace -A
Variable N N* Mean SE Mean StDev Minimum Q1 Median
Pace - K 165 0 0.27605 0.00435 0.05592 0.16528 0.23646 0.26458
Pace -A 142 0 0.26489 0.00504 0.06003 0.13750 0.23021 0.25521
Variable Q3 Maximum
Pace - K 0.29722 0.44653
Pace -A 0.28646 0.46458
A1. The sample ‘K’ is larger with 165 people as compared with ‘A’ which has 142 people.
A2. The standard deviation for ‘A’ is 0.06003 which is larger than ‘K’ with a standard deviation of 005592.
A3. Although the graphs look similar, the graph pace time K is tightly clustered together around its mean and thus has a smaller standard deviation. Pace time for A is more dispersed and therefore has a larger standard deviation.
A4. There is no big difference between both the samples as their means and standard deviations are quiet similar but Sample of ‘K’ would be taken to represent the populations because it has more people and a smaller standard deviation and therefore the data is tightly packed around the mean which gives more accuracy.
A5. Choosing one letter from the alphabet is not considered random sampling. For random sampling any person would have a chance of being selected from the population, while using a letter would obstruct that. If there was a random table or software based random generator then it would be considered random.
A6. Range ‘K’ = 0.44653-0.16528=0.28125 or 6:45mins, Range ‘A’ 0.46458-0.13750=0.32708 or 7:50 mins
A7. If the fastest time was to become larger the mean would become considerably larger and it would become the new median.
A8. If the slowest number was top become faster as the same number below the median then the sample’s mean would become smaller and median would be the new number.
