In 2000, United States affirmed that measles had been removed, but anti-vaccination assumption maybe playing a role in bringing the disease back, according to a new government report. Data collected by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention over a 10 year span, including cases up to August 2013 established that most patients had not protected themselves by getting vaccinated.

Measles is an infectious viral disease causing fever and a red rash on the skin, typically occurring in childhood. That spreads through breathing, coughing and sneezing. It should be noted that while measles are not really a problem or found in United States, the disease can be brought and spread to Americans by other country.

Potential complications from measles in about thirty percent of measles cases develop one or more complications, including pneumonia, ear infections, diarrhea and encephalitis. Encephalitis may lead to death and occurs in 1 out of every 1,000 cases (Jaslow, 2013). The measles infection can remain four hours after an affect person has left.

People in different religion or for personal reason are not getting vaccinated or allowing their children to receive the vaccine can lead them to being prone to a very contagious virus. There’s information that is a contributor to people not getting vaccinated as well, such as a disputed possible connection to getting autism from vaccines.

To help with the control, some pediatrician have discharged patients from their practice if they did not take their advice to get their children vaccinated, alleging possible affected other kids in their practice.

According to the CDC 159 cases of measles were reported in 16 states, with three outbreaks accounting for most of cases: outbreaks in New York City (58 cases), North Carolina (23 cases) and Texas (21 cases). That's on track for the most cases since measles was considered eliminated (Jaslow, 2013). Majority of the measles cases was found to have come from Europe.
