ROLE OF RESPONDER

Dr. Steven Fox is the head administrator of Skyline. Skyline is the largest office for the Dental Associates of Northern Virginia. Dr. B, the group administrator of the association. Subcommittee is the final decision maker which included Dr. B. However It was common practice for Dr. B to consult Dr. Fox for any major decisions since not only were they colleagues for a long time when the association was formed , but Dr. Fox was also very dedicated and kept himself abreast of the latest information related to Dentistry and current dental trends.

KEY ISSUES

The key issues here are to decide whether to make the crown in house or to outsource the productions

Factors to Consider:

1. Cost :

Cost is associated with multiple aspects such as follows:

a. Staff to handle 2 appointments and to maintain , manage and operate 2 in-house labs for acrylics

b. Cost spent on moulding supplies $15 per mould, which could be eliminated by buying the CEREC3. Not to mention the additional time and money spent on creating and implanting temporary crowns, anesthetic etc

c. No additional money had to be spent for rooming the machine since space was covered in the rent

d. Although they may still have to maintain the 2 in-house

e. Will save on transportation costs

2. Time: Although the overall time spent to from start to end was the same 1.5 hrs, dentist could do more when the machine was creating he crown for the patients

3. Quality: In-house production gives more control over quality

4. Effectiveness: The cost, time and customer satisfaction aspect of the machine would make the process more effective in addition to the fact that there need not be a dedicated person to be trained for the machine. The dentist would do it themselves which gave them more control over the making process. This would also mean less errors or less time spent in correcting errors.
