Faith Integration

Introduction

God tells us, “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end” (Holy Bible, Jeremiah 29:11, pg 942). God does not want us to fail but to be successful in what we do as long as we keep Him first along the way. We have decided to further our education so that we can obtain an expected end, and we have been tasked to discuss how our spiritual knowledge/growth can be applied to what we are learning in this course. This paper will demonstrate this progression towards professional success through spiritual direction.

Discussion of spiritual growth in managerial finance

There are a number of scriptures that have come to mind during this course. Some have been expounded upon within this paper, and there have been different references discussed during the previous discussion board assignments. There are others scriptures that can easily provide the same depth demonstrated with these pages.

In business, individuals and companies want to have a reputation of providing quality products or services; practicing ethical business transaction; and maintaining customer loyalty. This starts with the individual(s) personal character. There is a correlation between personal character and business character. When these two come together, it can make a big difference in the success or failure of a company. When looking at character, one can’t help but want to know what a person is known for, or they want to know about their reputation. Brealey et al (2011) wrote the following about reputation:

Reputation is particularly important in finance. If you buy a well-known brand in a supermarket, you can be fairly sure of what you are getting. But in financial transactions the other party often has more information than you. And it is less easy to be sure of the quality of what you are buying. Therefore, honest financial firms seek...
