Abstract

Brief introduce the importance of understanding current Canadian industrial development situation. And then explain the definition of post-industrial society. Compare the industrial society and post-industrial society by their social features like work, economic structures, productive departments and employer structures. After that, briefly review the work change in Canada during 1840’s until now. Basic on the characteristics of both two society, analyze the trends of Canadian social change. To analyze the social change, compare in different features by workers education and workers income. Also use data in 1975 and 2008 to make a conclusion that the current Canadian society is moving or already reached the post-industrial because the higher education rate is dramatically higher in 2008 compared to 1975. And also use the data to compare the service sector percentage in economic activity between 1975 and 2008, the service sector obvious take a dominant position in economic activity. Finally conclude that Canada almost reach or already become a post-industrial society currently.

During present worldwide economic situation, to deeply understand the question whether Canada have already become a post-industrial country could be beneficial to plan the economic structure for future Canada development. However, there are numerous factors should be taken into account to assert if Canada already finished industrial construction.
