Q.1. Which friendship is being referred to in the above lines? What was the foundation of their friendship? Ans:    The friendship between Jumman Sheikh and Alagu Chowdhari mutual faith in each other common outlook and a community of ideas

Q.2. What was Jumman’s father’s notion of bringing up his son? How did it differ from Alagu’s father’s notion? Ans    Jumman’s father was very strict, he believed in the adage ‘Don’t spare the rod or you will spoil the child’ Alagu’s father believed that a teacher’s blessings would transform one into a scholar and service to the teacher was a sure way of getting the teacher’s blessing. He also believed that one’s destiny depended on the stars.
