Article Review Format

Below is the format I want you to use for article reviews. It is simple, but you do need to follow the instructions without any variation. The article you choose must relate to a health, health education, or physical education topic that relates to young children (PK- grade 5). Articles must be selected from a periodical or journal that is reputable. Newspapers are not acceptable sources. Stay away from "questionable" sources; those where articles are not reviewed or "refereed" by an editorial board. Be especially leery of using any online source that may not contain accurate information. If you use an online periodical/journal, please make sure you include the URL of the article in the bibliographic content. If you have any questions, please contact me.

Typing Guidelines

1. The critique must be typed and/or word processed using 12 point type in Times New Roman (or similar) font. Margins should be one (1) inch for the whole page (sides and top). The entire document should be no more than one page. DO NOT INCLUDE A TITLE PAGE!

2. The entire document should be double-spaced.

Sample Review

Below is a rough sample of how your critique should be laid out; items in red should not be included in your paper... they are just info comments or examples. Include the items in black.

Bibliographic citation: This is where you will cite the information on the article, i.e., source, author(s), date, issue, volume number, etc. (Use APA format for the bibliographic entry.)

(At this point, you will write two paragraphs; the first paragraph is a brief synopsis of what the article was about. The second paragraph tells what you thought about the article; in other words your opinion! Remember, according to APA style a paragraph must have a minimum of three and not more than seven complete sentences. Don't forget to double-space between paragraphs.)
