Character is the foundation of a person's soul. Integrity, Honesty, and Loyalty are a few of many characteristics a person should possess. Whether a club or a nation is assessed, members or citizens with good character is needed. Many people say and believe America to be one of the greatest nations in the world. With that being a fact, we must also have the best citizens too. Our nation's citizens support the American Dream. They support the free market. They support helping thy neighbor as well. According to a poll conducted by CNN/ORC International Survey, 84 percent of Americans want to help. This is why America is a great nation. Why do we want to help? Helping is a great thing. Generally, people smile when they see helping occur. In America, you are looked down upon if you don't look somebody in need. And that is a justified belief. In Society, there are two types of helping: Indirect Helping and Direct Helping. Indirect Helping, if considered, would be heinous in society. Indirect Helping is not helping; it is ignoring or disassociating oneself from the topic at hand. On the other side of the spectrum, Direct Helping is preferred by society; it is associating oneself with the topic at hand. So, why does society prefer direct helping? Both methods have an end suitable for their presence, but which method does it better? To determine this, you would have to examine the core of helping, which is Experience. Experience is an obscure topic. Few statements can be made to accurately describe it. I can say this: Man has the ability to obtain experience. I believe it would also be safe to say exposure determines how much experience is obtained. Let's put this into perspective. If Mike practices his presentation for a week, he would have some experience. If Richard practices his presentation for years, he would have mastered it. This effect is also inherent in retention.
