Abstract

This paper examines the factors and issues of working with a team and how the use of individual self assessments may help to prevent any issues that come with working as a team. It will analyze the self assessment scores of Learning Team D’s members and how those scores can be used in the best way for the team. Lastly, how the team can utilize these self assessment scores and develop a plan for the team to get the most out of each team member and improvements that can be made to better work together as one.

A Plan For Positive Influence

Working as a team requires us, as individuals, to put our ego aside and work with others as one, as a team. Each member of the team brings their own personality and various experiences that may differ from other teammates. With all of these differences with each team member’s background and experiences, the team, as a whole, shares in one common interest, completing the team task at hand. In order for the team to success each member must be aware of the other member’s strengths and weaknesses and utilize the positive qualities of each team member. Andrew Carnegie put it best when he said, “Teamwork is the ability to work together toward a common vision; the ability to direct individual accomplishments toward organizational objectives. It is the fuel that allows common people to attain uncommon results.” (HeartQuotes.com, 2009)

Learning Team D is has five team members, each possessing different values, interests, and styles. During our team’s discussion we all shared the results from our self assessments, which included: the Values and Attitudes Insights assessment, the Emotional Intelligence assessment, and the DISC assessment.
