ModMeters Industry Leader Seeks to Enter New Markets

ModMeters is an established meter manufacturing company looking to expand sales by adding two previously untapped sales channels: international and direct-to-consumer sales. To date, ModMeters has been the meter leader in selling to industries for over one hundred years. Even with this solid performance record and steady profits, the company is facing budgeting issues and must be able to determine that they company manufacturing, sales, and IT capabilities can meet the demands of the current CEO’s vision for the growth of the company into these new markets (McKeen & Smith, 2012).

ModMeters Current Team

ModMeters, overseen by a board of directors, is well run by its CEO Stan Johnson. However, the company has maintained a long history of limiting the IT department’s budget. IT is run by CIO Brian Smith. Smith has spent the last few years patching working the company’s systems because of this limited budget. None of the company’s department heads from manufacturing, human resources, marketing, or research and development are in a position to reduce IT costs.
