I chose to write about midlife transition which takes place in adults during their 40’s to 50’s and is triggered by a life changing event which causes lots of different emotions about aging. Midlife transition is a social development in adulthood. According to Sheryl Ubelacker, a landmark birthday, death of a parent or peer, a grownup child leaving home or being passed over of a promotion for a younger colleague can all trigger these unwanted and uncertain emotions. Midlife transition also makes you question your life and your purpose left while you are living. You are realizing that you are getting older which can put you into a deep depression. I chose this article because I feel like I have seen some of my close family members go through these types of emotions and I have even seen them being displayed in films. I find it extremely interesting and I would like to know what I should be expecting in my years ahead with adulthood.

If I had to write a research paper on this topic I would use the article I selected; however, I would also use other articles as well. This article gives you a good idea of the topic, but I would need more supporting details as well. This article kind of tells you a story in a sense so you can understand. I would need more details on the topic and maybe to go a little further in depth. I also like a variety of articles to be able to compare and contrast. I think that having more than one article will give you the opportunity to understand the topic a lot more. This article is more so from personal experience so I would like another article that is more of a research article describing the topic. Overall, I do think that this article was very helpful for the topic because I also think that personal experiences are credible as well.
