Fascination with Celebrities

When you think about celebrities, what comes to mind? For me, it is fame and fortune. Some celebrities tend to throw their lives out in the open for the entire world to know about while others try to keep more secretive. With their fame, they have paparazzi that follow them almost everywhere they go, snapping pictures and trying to talk to them. With their fortunes, they have multi-million dollar weddings and divorces which captivate the ordinary person’s mind because we can only dream of such an amount of money.

Many celebrities start their careers at a very young age and continue for many years. Lately it seems that many younger celebrities hit a rough patch fairly early and we can’t help but read in amazement at the stuff they do. We wonder how they can change so much in so little time or what makes them do the things they do. For example, look how the world reacted when Miley Cyrus did her act on the VMAs with Robin Thicke. There were news articles, internet headlines, comedy briefs and thousands of comments after that. Miley went from a very young and talented actress to an almost R-rated singer just about overnight. The world ate it up with negative comments just as much as good comments because she got into the heads of people and we fell for it due to being fascinated with how she changed so much.

While celebrities generally make millions of dollars a year, some are very generous with their money and others are not. Some save money until they die and others end up completely broke or lose a lot of money in bad marriages and/or divorces. Taylor Swift gave four million dollars to the Country Music Hall of Fame during the first week in December of 2012. An example of one who lost somewhere between $250 million and $375 million is Arnold Schwarzenegger.
