Abstract

Creating surveys and polls are ways to get people’s opinions and thoughts on certain topics. There are many ways to conduct surveys and collect the data. There are different populations and demographics you can pull surveys from as well.

Introduction

There are many different types of surveys, but today I am going to talk about three types. I will look at an entertainment survey, political survey, and general survey. I will analyze each survey and talk about the population chosen for each. I will then create my own entertainment survey and analyze my results with charts.

Part 1: Survey Analysis: Entertainment

The entertainment survey that I chose was a survey done to find who the creepiest celebrity was in 2013. The survey was done by a company called E-Poll Market Research. E-Poll surveyed only 1,100 people across a cross section of the United States. The people surveyed were a general representation across age, gender, geographic demographics, and age. The results of the survey were that Marilyn Manson was the creepiest celebrity of 2013. I believe that a lot of people across the United States would agree that Manson is a creepy celebrity, but E-Poll only surveyed 1,100 people out of the whole country. I don’t believe there results are very valid. That is a small amount of people to survey out of the number of people there actually is in the population. It is understandable that they would choose a small sample size to achieve these results, because it is nearly impossible to conduct interviews with the entire population (Proquest Newsstand 2013).

I think these results could possibly tell a story about what makes these celebrities creepy and why people think they are creepy. There are a lot of more survey questions that could be asked from the results of this survey.
