Immigration

The United States is a nation of immigrants. Everyone’s ancestor, at one point, migrated to this land, from the Native Americans who migrated looking for food, to the Europeans “Discovering America” to today’s large diversity within the people of the U.S. We all Immigrated to this land. We found this land to be our Home. To get to this land, immigrants face so many obstacles and challenges, some in their way to the U.S and other challenges wait for them in the U.S. The challenges are nothing for they have a dream, a dream of being someone, a dreaming of being happy.

There are so many different reasons to why people immigrate to the United States. Some came to the U.S. in seek of political and religious refuge, a great example of this are Cubans. Many Cubans came to the use seeking political refuge. They are not able to go back to the native land; it is not safe for them. Another reason why people immigrate to the U.S. is for economic reasons. Some people are so poor and have nothing, some get paid $10.00 a day and they work for 12-14 hrs every day. They are tired of injustice and of poverty; they came the U.S. in search of decent pay in order to have enough to feed their family. Others immigrate to this nation in order for their children to have a better education, something that they didn’t have themselves. In so many cultures, education is key and it makes their future secure, for parents education is the best they can give to their children.

Immigrants face challenges while trying to get to the U.S. It is no easy leaving your home and moving to a different country, especially when the people you care stay behind. Sacrifices must be made for family. Some obstacles that people face during their odyssey to the U.S is death. People die while immigrating to the U.S. Some people don’t know anyone and might even be homeless for days. Another great challenge that immigrants face is the culture and language barrier.
