Of all the social media Facebook seems to be the largest one where companies place an advertisement or products in front of tons of people and this is an excellent resource. Facebook is basically more than just a place for people to gossip with their peers but also where they find out where their friends suggest for restaurant and shopping in their area (Montes, 2013). There is a new Facebook search, which allows users to find companies their friends have liked for guaranteed good service. Once Facebook becomes a one-click resource center a lot of businesses will benefit greatly from it.
It is worth-mentioning that Facebook looks entirely different than it did few years back so it is not astonishing marketing on the network has also changed a great deal. The addition of Timeline, which is essentially the photo-heavy redesign, is a great tool and it’s amazing how Facebook uses Timeline for marketing. A lot of companies use lead photos to promote their products while others also use the Timeline space to boost posts and promotions. Subway has in the past used the Timeline photo to advertise its Smokehouse BBQ chicken sandwich. Cover photos could advertise new products, special promotions, or simply contain a distinguishable brand-specific image and could provide instant exposure to the brand’s fans. Facebook, being arguably the largest social networking website on the Internet can be unbelievably valuable because it helps companies to target only people who would be interested in their products (Zang, n.d.).
