· inside adress is name, address then salutation then colon

· negative messages: inductive, begin with a buffer(which lightens the mood and keeps it neutrual before the negative news), then in next paragraph give reasons then refusal in the middle of the paragraph, then silver lining/ something you can do for them like a discount. emphasis on what you can do rather than what you cant. Sometimes its ok to use a deductive writing style: like when there is bad news but no one is going to be particularly upset, like if you cant park in the BA from noon to five

- if you have to fire someone face to face is better than an email

· chapter 8: persuasion. AIDA formula Attention, Interest, Desire, Action. Persuasive formula: Attention, Need, Propose an Action/ Satisfaction, Visualization (what will happen if the person accepts the proposal, privilages, opportunites, what happens if you dont), Action (to fill out an application or donate or whatever your asking for)

· review pages 79-84 in WB there will be several question

· difference between primary and secondary research. Primary is from the direct source and secondary is... do secondary reasearch 1st: because you dont want to do 6months of research about something that has been done a year ago. limitation in a report, research or weather or something that will keep you from completing the work you wanted to do.

· RFP- request for preposal. you write and external or internal preposal. is it ok to you 1st or 2nd person in preposals or informative presentation? YES.

· what do you do if you have a graph that wont fit on a page where you said "the graph below" put on the next page. then do the analysis and explain it after the graph
