Executive Summary

Due to ABC’s consecutive expansion and recent merger, the company has strained it network capabilities, which made it problematic to communicate between field offices. Initially, ABC only resided it the San Francisco region. The problem originated when the previous consultant improperly implemented the configuration, which later resulted in a poor IP address scheme. In order to correct that problem, an accurate amount of hosts will have to be determined based on a designated address block. In addition, no VLAN structure was implemented to isolate broadcast traffic. By that issue not being addressed, it has caused congestion and delays on the network’s productivity. There are currently four main departments that are a part of ABC’s organization. Those departments consist of Sales, Finance, Human Resources, and Research and Development. Furthermore, there have been a numerous amount of concerns that the WAN transport is running into an issue where it is unable to accommodate network traffic. Lastly, because all of the addresses in the network are statically assigned, it is producing a high level of administration overhead. In order for that problem to be resolved, it would be best to configure an address range with Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP). A completely new network implementation will be necessary to resolve the technical complications that ABC is facing. Such changes will diminish and possibly deplete the current network design’s misconfiguration.
