Business Communication Trends

Without effective interaction or exchange of words in all formats between individuals mass confusion will lead to misunderstanding one another. A good example would be when ordering food and asking a question if a certain sandwich has bacon on it. The cashier responds yes that sandwich has bacon on it but when the customer receives the sandwich there is no bacon on it at all. Apparently, the cashier misunderstood the customer in assuming that the customer did not want bacon on their McDonald’s Ranch BLT sandwich. Clear and concise communication is a vital part of business and society on a daily basis.

Day to Day Role

Written communication via email and quotations are important in VWR Furniture Division’s day to day business to include occasional phone conversations. Quote’s gather information from the customer and establishes what they need by noting style and color for each piece of the order. In addition, obtaining pertinent information from the customer such as shipping, selling, and billing addresses will help with setting up or finding accounts. VWR also offers installation on some projects where auto cad drawings show measurements taken onsite and displays exactly where each piece of the customer’s order is located. Constant interaction with the customer during the order is important to include manufacturing times, updates on current status, and estimated ship dates.

Daily Management

Each project is assigned a quote number and job number that identify the name of the customer and pertinent contact information such as an individual’s name, phone number, fax number, and email address.
