Case Study: Lyme disease

Lyme disease seems to be a lot more common in the continental U.S. or anywhere in general that has deer. Living in Hawaii I have never heard of such disease which is why I thought it would be a good idea to take it apart piece by piece to a better understand of what exactly it is. Lyme disease is an acute form of Arthritis since it doesn’t go straight to joint pain and you do have time to treat it before it gets worse and even better it can be treated and healed/ Since Lyme disease is caused by the attachment to the skin of deer ticks it is important that anyone take certain precautions when in the wilderness of deer environment.

Lyme disease as I have mentioned is caused by a deer tick, if the tick were to bite you it can inject a spirochete bacteria After being bitten the symptoms of Lyme disease can show up in as little as two days or two weeks. The appearance of an expanding ring shaped rash and you may have flu like symptoms, so definitely if you are experiencing any of these symptoms you need to get to the hospital and see a doctor immediately. If this goes untreated it can expand invading other organs of your body, heart disturbances and arthritis. Another more serious effect of this disease is that it leads to neurotically problems such as fatigue, multiple sclerosis and dementia. From such a small little tick bite can lead to serious effects down the road so it cannot be expressed how crucial it is to protect yourself when traveling out in deer country. So after reading more about Lyme disease it seems to be that the neurological effects of this disease outweigh the physical symptoms you may have these are life changing diseases that really should change the way we think about this.

Technology has come a long way in treating Lyme disease, so recently it seems that the month period of administration of doxycycline or penicillin will most likely clear up the disease. This doesn’t necessarily mean that it will...
