Guns

Guns are used for many activities in the world. Banning them will only anger the gun owners who use them correctly. For some, guns are used for violence, but for others, guns are used for a hobby. Still, people think they are dangerous and worry about murders or other crimes. Edward J. Erler (2013) stated, “Over the past two decades, gun ownership has increased dramatically at the same time that crime rates have decreased.” This being said, it seems that banning guns might have more of a negative affect on the citizens of the United States, because it could suggest and increase in crime. Also, banning guns might not change the number of crimes we have a year. Because guns are not just used in crimes, despite potential problems, banning guns won’t stop violence, stop someone who is mentally ill from killing, and change gun owners’ perspective on their right to bear arms.

People believe that if guns were illegal it would stop most of the United States crimes. If the Supreme Court were to ban guns, it should think about other weapons that are used in crimes, guns are not the only weapons of choice. It is not going to be the resolution. Even if guns were banned, criminals would still find a way to get a hold of the guns. The gun-owners who use their guns the right way would lose their privileges because the criminals choose not to use them correctly. Criminals do not only use guns to commit their crimes. Crimes can be committed by using knives, baseball bats, brass knuckles, tools in a garage, and even their bare hands. Violence is still going to happen, because people are always going to find a way to hurt another human being. Guns are not the problem, the society is. When the wrong people get their hands on the wrong object, anything can happen. Nothing can stop that, but better regulation is a start.
