LeVar Burton has had many contributions to society in his life. Some of those are listed below:

1. Helped children like learning to read by making it fun with a series like Reading Rainbow.

2. He has been a great supporter of children with reading disabilities.

3. He was a great role model of success for the African American community.

His contributions to society may one day show my own kids how to love reading.

The Biography of Levar Burton:

Levardis Robert Martyn Burton Jr. is an amazing African-American actor, director and producer. He has had many great movies and has been in some great series, like Reading Rainbow & Star Trek. LeVar Burton was born on February 16, 1957. He was raised by his mother Erma Jean. She was a Social Worker for schools, as well as an Administrator. She was the only supporter of him and his two sisters while his father was a Photographer for the army. He was away for a long time, meaning Erma Jean had to be the supporter. In his early career, Levar played a role as a visitor to Fantasy Island, was a participant in Battle of the Network Stars, a guest of the Muppet Show's televised premiere party for the release of The Muppet Movie, and a frequent guest on several game shows. In 1986, he appeared in the music video for the song "Word Up!" by the funk/R&B group Cameo.

Burton accepted an invitation to host Rebop, a multicultural series designed for young people ages 9–15, produced by WGBH for PBS. Burton was host and executive producer of Reading Rainbow starting in 1983 for PBS. The series ran for 21 seasons, making it one of the longest running children's programs on the network....
