Our company is considering choosing certain types of advertising to promote our new product. Television is the most controversy amidst. Let me show you the pros and cons of television advertising, and then we could compare it with online advertising.

The biggest advantage of television advertising is its capacity of communicating the product to a large number of people in a short span of time. Second, by using visuals, sound and actions, television advertising allows the target market to see and hear the messages being conveyed through advertisements.

Television advertising is highly effective in influencing customers and slowly persuading the target market although it may not induce instant sale, like that of search engine advertising.

Small businesses can make the most out of television advertising by developing creative advertisements to easily attract people and induce them to purchase the products.

* Television reaches very large audiences – usually much larger than the audience your local newspaper reaches, and it does so during a short period of time.

* Since there are fewer television stations than radio stations in a given area, each TV audience is divided into much larger segments, which enables you to reach a larger, yet, more diverse audience.

* It has the ability to convey your message with sight, sound and motion, and can give a product or service instant validity and prominence.

* You can easily reach targeted audiences. Children can be reached during cartoon programming, housewives during the afternoon soap operas, and insomniacs after midnight.

Disadvantages Of Television Advertising

The main disadvantage of television advertising is the high cost involvement.

Producing a television advertisement requires hiring of script writers, actors, video editors, or an advertising agency which means the entire process is a complicated procedure.
