Ukraine. Chernivtsi Region.

In Eastern Europe, there is a remarkable country named Ukraine that has population around forty-five million people according to recent statistics. The territory of the country compared to the territory of the United States is fairly low – only “603,628 square kilometers” (Rybin 4). The capital of Ukraine is an ancient and beautiful city Kiev. “Ukraine has twenty-seven regions including cities like Kiev and Sevastopol, that are city state submissions, and Crimea, which is an autonomous republic” (Mintz 25). One of its regions called Chernivtsi region is quite appealing for tourists. Apart from having a wide variety of landforms, a climate hospitable to raising vegetables, plants, and animals and is congenial to health, the region is famous for its uneasy history, fully qualified education, constructive geographical location, and unique architecture.

Chernivtsi region is located in the west of Ukraine, where the Carpathians and scenic hills of the mountains slowly turn into a wide forested plain part of the region located in the Khotyn hill. In the southwest, Pokutsko-Bucovina Carpathians and a number of small picturesque ridges can be observed. ”The highest point of flat is located in Chernivtsi region and is called the mountain Byrd” (Mintz 67). Chernivtsi Regional Council is controlling all regions. The head of area is RSA chairman appointed by the President of Ukraine.

“The region's territory is divided into three parts: the plains, foothills and mountains.” ( The most flat part is called North-Podolsk upland with a wavy densely territory dissected by river valleys, which is located between Dniester and Prut rivers. Chernivtsi region is bordered by the Ivano-Frankivsk region in the west, by the Ternopil and Khmelnytsky regions in the north, by the Vinnitsa region on the east, and by the boundaries of Romania in the south and of Moldova in the east.
