Greeting: Hello, It's a pleasure to be here..

Intro: Do any of you know what drifting means? ---Did you know that you can only perform that operation in a manual transmission vehicle? Did you also know that driving a manual transmission can be way more fun and controlling? Yes, they are much easier to control and you can drift them, (that's fun)..Most people think it's hard, but it's just like learning to ride a bike, you never forget once you know how. Did you know that only 6% of cars sold in America have manual transmissions? (They need to make more)..

Purpose: which brings me to the purpose of my speech, how to drive a stick shift vehicle.

Preview: In explaining this, I will be going over 3 main points.

First, a little technical information as to what a manual transmission is

Secondly, I'll talk about shifting gears

and third, will be about, finessing the clutch.

1st, some technical information, the transmission is basically a series of gears that work to give the car a certain amount of torque at various speeds, each gear has it's own ratio of how much rpm it will be using at a certain speed, rpm is revolutions per minute, that's the gauge on your dashboard, usually next to the miles per hour gauge, most people wouldn't look at that if driving a automatic but you would if driving a manual transmission. Each gear is a different size and that's how you get the different ratios of power to speed. The first gear is always the smallest, and then they get bigger as you go up. When you are at a low gear the engine works faster at a slower speed, this is how you get accelerated from the start, as you go to a higher gear you will get more acceleration at higher speeds at lower rpm's.

2nd, is shifting, when you are shifting in a manual car you always start in the lowest gear to highest gear, so depending on the car if there are 6 gears then it would be 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th etcetera, you can as you get better understand...
