Kudler’s Fine Foods

Kudler Fine Foods has a new program developed to reward customers for their loyalty. Kudler’s bases the criteria of the program on the recurrence rate of each customer returning to the store for shopping, and the amount spent at each visit. Various stores use these programs as marketing strategies. The program works as an electronic database for tracking, recording, and storing consumer purchase information pertaining to the reward program. Kudler’s will use web-based consumer shopping programs (eCommerce) in the development of their frequent shopper program. Additionally, Kudler’s will raise consumer awareness, and succeed in cost reductions by applying web-based advertising techniques.

The company’s sales and marketing department’s goal is hoping to increase sales by at least 5% during the next 12-month timeframe. Kudler’s has performed a full-blown analysis of all aspects of the company functions to ensure success of the new program.

Legalities

Of course many aspects need analyzing when implementing a new program; one aspect is the legalities involved relating to the program use and consumers. Consumer trends need studying for the program to function effectively and at its fullest potential. Use of the information gained from this study may result in a better shopping experience for Kudler’s patrons.

The purpose of performing a study such as this, according to the National Research Council (1994), is to retain data “to better target products and produce, or customized products.” However, while studying and storing information obtained on consumer trends, Kudler’s has to look at the bad and the good of the act.

Some individuals may call this type of study an invasion of privacy; therefore, Kudler’s may want to alert customers to the planned study by briefly explaining the study reasons, and consumer aspects studied. Retention of study...
