Hi, and welcome to the Walker Library’s tutorial of the Bloomberg interface. This video will provide information on how to access the library’s Bloomberg room, and also give instructions on how to register for a Bloomberg account. It’s important to point out that this database has very useful features for all disciplines within the business school, and is not intended solely for use by finance and economics students. It’s also important to note that if you haven’t created an account, you will need your cell phone to complete the process, so make sure you have it handy. Alright let’s get started.

First of all, the Bloomberg room is one of the library’s many study rooms that requires a reservation. You can reserve it up to one week in advance. To do this, simply ask someone who is working at the service desk on the first floor if the room is available. If it is, they will ask you for your student ID and provide you with a slip of paper to tape outside the door denoting you’ve reserved the room. Once you’ve reserved the room at the service desk, you’ll need to walk over to the reference desk and ask a reference librarian to open the door for you. The Bloomberg room is located on the second floor of the library, room number 259, just past the elevators before you get to the computers and bookshelves.

Once you’ve made it to the room, it’s time to login and begin using the interface. If you’ve never used Bloomberg before, this will be the time when you create your account. To create a new account, click the “create a new login” link on the opening screen. On the start screen, you will be asked to set the default language for your account as well as whether you’re creating this login for yourself along with whether or not you’ve been a Bloomberg client before. Assuming this is the first time you’ve created a login, we’ll continue like this. On the User Information screen, you will be asked to enter your name and create a password.
