Individual Kolb Paper

Topic 1: One significant experience that occurred for you in the first 6 weeks of the semester and apply at least two theories to assist in explaining your thoughts, feelings and behaviours as they apply to this event.

Concrete Experience

During the first tutorial, we were divided into groups of four to five people, with at least one international student, for discussion during tutorial sessions, observation for Kolb paper writing and group presentation. The group presentation we are doing is to observe a club or an organisation. I was assigned into a group of four. The group was formed with three local, including me, and one international student. This not challenges us since we have similar cultures and thinking. For example, we all want things to be discussed rather than pinpointing when a problem arises.

During the third tutorial, we were to think of clubs or organizations we want to observe and we started the majority voting the following week. My group members give a lot of suggestions, such as Volleyball Club, Football Club, Debate Club, CPA Club and Drama club. We have no conflict on club choosing because all people are agreed with the suggestion. During the discussion, I and Yulius suggested Debate Club, because this is a hot topic. Angelina and Wen Khang had very strong will to choose Drama club with a reason that they understand Drama Club better. At the end Yulius and I gave up to giving suggestions because we are not familiar with other clubs. All of us then explained what are the objectives and doings of Drama Club. After the discussion, we decided to pick Drama Club for observation.

After the selection of a club to observe, we decided to vote for a leader. We need a leader to lead, motivate, and influence us to work efficiently and effectively in a group. Wen Khang, Yulius and I voted for Angelina. We voted her not because she is the only girl in our group, but it is because she has potential to become a leader among...
