The current U. S military vision statement is to ensure that the Army will be ready to promptly provide combatant commanders with the capabilities- principally well-led, well-trained, and well-equipped forces-required to achieve all operational objectives. On the other hand the Army mission statement is to provide combatant commanders, the forces and capabilities necessary to execute the National Security, National Defense, and National Military Strategies (U. S Army, 2005). The U. S Army is one of the most respected and organizations in the country and it try to maintain its traditions even I the face of the changes that occur for example the home guard that honors the fallen soldiers.

So far the main competition that the U> S army has is the private sector when it comes to the recruitment of fresh soldiers who are straight from school. Using the five forces analysis, where the supplier power that is the market place that supplies the new recruits has a lot of power since they can refuse to get into the army. With the current freedom to choose the eligible candidates hold a lot of power especially in accepting or rejecting the army recruitment. Since the numbers of fresh candidates in the market place that can be suitable for the army are also being head hunted by the private sector, then this makes them quite powerful.

On the other hand there is the army’s power. Some of the schools are offered government funding and all they have to do in return is to ensure that they provide the list with the information of their graduating class to the army recruiters. If they refuse to do so then their funding dries up as well. This makes the army have a certain power over them.
