(1) The Board of Nursing in Washington, Dc states that the purpose is to provide an organization through which boards of nursing act and counsel together on matters of common interest and concern affecting the public health, safety and welfare. Of the agency is to protect the public's health and welfare by overseeing and ensuring the safe practice of nursing, the agencies is responsible for the regulation of nursing practice. The mission of the board of nursing is also to protect the public by enforcing the nurse practice act and nurse licensure accrediting or approving nurse education programs in school and universities, developing practice standards. The primary mission of a Board of Nursing is also to protect and promote public health, and safety through regulation of nursing practice. Among other activities, Boards of Nursing ensure safety by setting minimum qualifications and competencies for safe entry-level practitioners.
