1.1 INTRODUCTION:

This critical analysis overviews the article ‘The influence of personality factors on transformational leadership: exploring the moderating role of political skill’ by Simone T.A. Phipps and Leon C. Prieto which was published in International Journal of Leadership studies in 2011.

Leadership has become one of the most popular and spoken word, all over the world and holds increasing importance in this globalized business world. Similarly, the view of leadership is also getting changed and is affected by various factors. Due to the dramatic changes in technology, way of living, people’s behaviour in recent time the importance of transformational leadership is growing rapidly. The valuable time of the management experts and scholars like Frederic Taylor, Hertzberg, Mumford, Victor Vroom, K. Lewins have created great affect in the leadership study and in this article the researchers have tried to investigate and analyze the leadership style, transformational leadership and impact of political skill within an individual. Leadership is such a relationship which has the ability to influence people and their behaviour or actions (Mullins, 2002).
