Improving Time Management

The expression “there are not enough hours in a day” describes a common feeling for many people. There are often unexpected occurrences in everyday life that can throw even the most organized person off-track. It can be very difficult to effectively manage one’s time. Many people struggle with the ability to manage a busy schedule and still make time for important events or school assignments. Time-management consists of scheduling, planning, setting goals, and self-discipline, which helps to maintain and develop proper time management skills over time. Being able to schedule, plan, and maintain these skills will help one become proficient in keeping a good timeline for work, events, important dates, and school work for the day or week.

Time Management

I have chosen time management as the problem I need to address and overcome for many reasons. One aspect of time management that I need to improve is maintaining an up-to-date calendar with events and school assignments that will help me to keep track of any upcoming events or important dates. By maintaining a calendar with everything written in on the correct dates, a person can manage his time as needed to accommodate a busy schedule. Another way to overcome problems with time management could be to avoid over scheduling. By not giving myself more than one major responsibility to handle in a day’s time, I can avoid spreading myself too thin. I could plan one event per day in addition to my normal responsibilities. For example, I may plan to work throughout the day and then complete a homework assignment that afternoon in order to free up some time in the rest of the week to accommodate other events and important dates. Another area of time management that I need to improve is my ability to set goals and follow through with them. An example of this problem is setting a timeline to finish my homework assignments and then ignoring my goal and ending up in a last minute situation. I tend...
