1. Introduction to the Main Problem Myxcy Associates is a legal firm based in Semenyih, Malaysia. Recently, many legal professionals of the firm have either left or had expressed intentions to leave. This has a huge impact on the firm’s operation and caused it to lag behind its competitors. There are few explanations as to why this situation has arisen. Firstly, it is due to the monotony of work with a strenuous workload and indefinite hours. Attorneys in Myxcy Associates are doing the same things day by day, either giving legal advice to clients and then representing them in court cases or performing contract related matters concerning business transactions. Boredom has negative effects on the attorney’s performance as actions become pointless in a routine job and their career becomes a meaningless part of life (Wijnand & Eric, 2012). Strenuous workload also means increased pressure and stressful work leading to psychological discomfort. Moreover, even if attorneys are well-paid, they are sacrificing their leisure time in order to abide by the long, indefinite working hours of legal firms. Secondly, the firm lacks a strong and effective leader. A self-centered leader aggravated the problem of skepticism or in other words, the absence of trust between partners and colleagues. This is a very serious hindrance towards the firm’s growth because there is no sign of commitment towards the organization as a whole. Instead, individual accomplishment is given precedence. Discontentment of working under poor leadership would trigger employees to leave the firm in search of a great leader who can be trusted and is competent in directing the firm towards its goals. Poor leader certainly also means ineffective communication whereby the organization’s mission, vision, and its core value is vague.
