A Data Warehouse (DW) is a collection of technologies to help the decision maker to make better and faster decisions. In my opinion, data warehousing is chaotic. There are a few reason bellows.

a. Source system, source data, business rule and end user are often out of control when implementing the integrated data warehouse.

b. Data warehouse is sensitive to initial conditions. Miner changes will lead to totally different result. In other words, data warehouse is pretty unpredictable.

c. Even though the data warehouse seems like disorderly and mess, there is a set of logical order and pattern under the random.

Usually, data warehouse are mean to be “customer centric” . because customers can provide most useful feedback to improve data warehouse as well as data mining initiatives. And finally come out the best result of business performance. For these customers, it can be classified in three types: end-user, power-user and developer.

End-user tells what they needs, driving the development of the application and architecture of the data warehouse. Experience the improvement of the data warehouse and finally make it become more accurate, timely and easier to access.

Power-user, the primary audience for the data warehouse, wants as much data as possible to use special tools for their works. This enhanced the data warehouse performance.

Application developer, maintenance the data warehouse structure and lower the impact on application if change made. They also have a good sense to extract the valuable date.
