ARTICLE 1: SILK WORMS SPIN COLORED SILKS WHILE ON A GREEN DYED LEAF DYED

This article describes that how silk worms make the silk fabric. It talks about their new diet which is dyed green leaves. The process of dyeing pollutes the environment; hence it is one of the most polluted industries. It includes a lot of water in terms of rinsing, bleaching and washing. The water after being used is completely wasted due to an immense use of chemicals. It results in a stream of harmful stream. It needs to be treated effectively before releasing it to the environment. Due to its miniature size and ease of culture, the silkworm has become a model organism in the study of Lepidopteron and arthropod biology. Better and eco-friendly ways are being adopted to make the environment more clean and green. They feed the silk worm these dyed leaves rather than cocoons which is their actual diet. The dye which was being used turned to be very pricey for the industry so they switched to the “azo” dye which is affordable and serves the purpose. They use the usual mulberry leaves the silk worm’s use of food and with azo dye. To see which one once consumed would transfer to silk. Of the seven dyes they tested, three were incorporated into the caterpillars' silk, and none seemed to affect the worms' growth. The scientists noticed that certain dye traits, such as the ability to dissolve in water, affected how well the dye worked. They concluded that these insights are extremely important for the development of dye molecules that can contribute towards producing colored silk fabrics.
