What is Computer?

A computer is an electronic device, which takes some raw and unprocessed material (Called Data) from a user then process it according to given method (called processing) and at the end it results some processed material (Called Information).

The Study of Computers can be divided into 2 Major Categories which are followed:

Computer Hardware Computer Software

Computer Hardware:-

Computer Hardware refers to all the physical, tangible components related to computers. We can say that the “Computer Hardware is the structural study of computers. All the physical items like:

* Printers

* Monitors

* Keyboard

* Mouse

* Disks

* Chips

* Circuits

These all are included in the computer Hardware.

There are 3 types of Devices

* Input devices

* Output devices

* Processing units

Actually a computer system is completely controlled by Central Processing Unit. All executions are done by it in personal or micro computer systems CPU is also called micro processor it manages all input, output and memory units.

Computer Software:-

Computer software refers to the instructions to operate the hardware we can say that “Computer software” is the functional study of computers computer software includes applications and programs like:

* Word Processors

* Spread Sheets

* Graphical Programs

* Multimedia Applications
