INSTRUCTIONS TO CANDIDATES

1. There are TEN (10) pages in this Assignment including the cover page.

2. This assignment will contribute 25% to your final grade.

3. The assignment must be typewritten on double line spacing, A-4 size paper and single sided. Work should be presented in a folder, with a cover sheet, which includes your name, unit number, tutor's name, and the essay/group report topic.

Marks will be allocated for content, presentation, and referencing.

Rationale for Assignment 2: Group Case Study Report

The group assignment was designed to enable students to develop an understanding on how a multi-national corporation (MNC), Carrefour, conduct international business (IB) in one of the largest emerging countries, India. Specifically, students will learn to identify, investigate, and critically analyse a large retail MNC and how it exploit business opportunities in the international arena. The outcome of such an understanding will be reflected in the “Carrefour Entry into India” report.

Students may also discuss the approach Carrefour could take in developing the international business in terms of time frame, business outlook, planning issues, culture in the context of the Indian environment.

In addition, the group assignment will enable two (2) students to demonstrate teamwork. Each member of this group is expected to provide their individual viewpoints on how international issues can affect Carrefour entering India.
